Kenneth S. Hemphill National Strategist for Empowering Kingdom Growth Southern Baptist Convention
"Do I spend my life, my time and my energies for the kingdoms of the world and men's glory or do I spend my resources, my time and my energies for the Kingdom of heaven and my Father's reward?"This is what Dr. Hemphill wants every believer to ask themselves as we move forward to empowering the growth of God's Kingdom.
Dr. Kenneth S.
Hemphill is
the National Strategist for Empowering Kingdom Growth.
Empowering Kingdom Growth is an initiative designed to call individual
Southern Baptists to renew their passion for the Lord Jesus and the
reign of His kingdom in their hearts, families, and churches from
which God can forge a spiritual movement marked by holy living, sacrificial
service and global witness.
Dr. Hemphill comes to EKG from his most recent position as the president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. In addition to having served since 1994 at Southwestern, Dr. Hemphill has served as the director of the Southern Baptist Center for Church Growth and in pastoral positions in Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Dr. Hemphill has doctoral degrees from both Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Cambridge University.
The author of many books, which include, among others, the Prayer of Jesus, Names of God, got life? evangelistic material, Revitalizing the Sunday Morning Dinosaur, The Antioch Effect, and Life Answers: Making Sense of Your World, Dr. Hemphill has made a significant contribution to Christian life in America today.
Dr. Morris H. Chapman, President of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, said Dr. Hemphill has the "scholarly mind of a theologian, the passion of an evangelist and the heart of a pastor."
The answer to the question of why he left a post at the "world's
largest seminary to take another task" is simple, he said: "The will
of God and the work of God."
